MAJOR GLOBAL MINERAL COMPANY

 
 


Created a new mechano-chemical process incorporated throughout the mining & minerals industry to transform low market grade material into engineered high grade material.

ISSUE: How to increase output of custom high grade material strategic to the customer's marketplace.

WHAT WE DID: Created a promising new mechano chemical technology producing a higher percent of precision product output utilizing adaptive technology based on GK's VIBRA-DRUM® solutions.

GK's Solutions Group enhanced the outcomes of the existing mechano chemical process to alter and engineer material to achieve unmatched precision output at the desired specifications. A huge outcome was achieved using GK's patented drum technology. Payback results are proprietary to customer's new market plans.

Increased plant capacity, reduced overhead costs by 66%... increased profitability while maintaining a high standard of quality.

ISSUE: Customer wanted to automate and optimize an old process that increasees the leaf factor of tobacco. The new technology must be able to fit within the existing physical constraints of the plant structure without redesign of the facility.

WHAT WE DID: Within six months GK's Engineered Products Group designed, built, and delivered a turn-key system incorporating a 600 square foot fluid bed processor which exceeded lab pilot test outcomes by 10%. Achieved near-optimal utilization of resources in re-designing one of the largest vibratory fluid bed systems in the industry.

Met quality goals while reducing time and costs during the cooling process... while reducing scrap to under 2% (representing industry standards).

ISSUE: Customer needed a process in which castings could be cooled within an efficient space and time period with no transmittal of force to the environment as was being experienced from vibratory units provided from past suppliers, and without a re-design of the existing plant footprint.

WHAT WE DID: GK's Engineered Solutions Group and GK's Engineered Products Group used an integrated team approach to produce a patented casting cooling spiral conveyor.

Met all requirements: GK's solution provided a new process that cooled castings in a footprint reduced by a factor of eight. Produced very efficient heat transfer by containing ventilation to work area instead of across entire plant floor. Completely dampened environmental impact. Reduced re-work, and therefore product costs.

GK's Engineered Products Group delivered new product / process within 16 months of design start.

Doubled capacity while increasing separation efficiency.

ISSUE: Regional U.S. recycler required a more efficient processing solution for separation of construction and demolition waste.

WHAT WE DID: GK's Engineered Solutions Group worked with other suppliers to create a highly efficient system which separates heavy and light aggregate at 500 cubic yards per hour with reduced manpower; more than doubling capacity.

DE-STONER® and FINGER-SCREEN™ technologies and delivered the re-engineered machinery within months of project acceptance.

GK's patented FINGER-SCREEN technology improved drying stages, reduced resin costs and improved "good product" yield by 5%.

ISSUE: Customer required a process to separate the low grade lumber "fines" and smaller pieces of wood chips from the more desirable large strands; to increase the quality and strength of their finished product.

WHAT WE DID: GK's Engineered Solutions Group designed a technology which created new specifications for product classification... based upon capturing more good product, while increasing the integrity of the finished product.

  A GLOBAL CANDY MANUFACTURER  
 


A reduction in scrap from 5% to Zero.

ISSUE: Candy maker needed a process to give customers more "perfect" candy pieces. Reject material needed to be recycled and reused with a stringent focus on blending with fresh final product pieces.

WHAT WE DID: Developed a process in conjunction with the candy manufacturer that reclaimed rejects, and improved the asthetic presentation and quality of the final product.

  PETROLEUM INDUSTRY  
 


An engineered solution that increased total capacity by 50%

ISSUE: Bottlenecks in the coking cycle at the end of petroleum processing produced multiple handling of material by three times per day.

WHAT WE DID: GK's Engineered Solutions Group developed a patent pending single line process from coke to barge, which reduced staging steps from three times per day to potentially one per day, with less environmental risk.

GK's Engineered Products Group delivered the final product in less than 9 months.
