Challenge
A North American foundry had an existing rotary drum in their facility. The drum liners had become severely worn and damaged over time and required new liners installed.
Approach
General Kinematics sales engineers presented the rotary drum liners GK engineers and manufactures. The foundry is a sand cast foundry making light truck engine components, largest casting weight 8.5 lbs., with lots of rocker arms and valve bridges. They needed liners that would properly handle these fragile components.
Solution
With a modular liner system that would easily upgrade their current liners, the foundrymen were most impressed with the ease of installing the GK rotary drum liners.
Results
According to maintenance, engineering managers and operators at this foundry, they had a very good experience with the liners from GK. The entire installation was completed in two days with four, twelve hour shifts and two millwrights / fork lift operator. GK’s field service engineer was also on site through the startup period to ensure the installation was done properly. According to the Maintenance Engineering Manager: “A whole lot safer to install than [others]… I would definitely recommend this system.”
