General Troubleshooting Tips

Below are some troubleshooting suggestions should you run into issues with your vibratory equipment. These are merely guidelines… for specific unit information or troubleshooting assistance, please contact General Kinematics service department at 815-455-3222.

MALFUNCTION POSSIBLE CAUSE REMEDY
STROKE OR CAPACITY
INCREASE
1. REACTOR SPRING BREAKAGE. REPLACE SPRINGS.
  2. REACTOR SPRING LOOSE. TIGHTEN BOLTS PER THE
TORQUE CHART IN MANUAL.
  3. MATERIAL BUILD-UP. CLEAN TROUGH.
  4. ADDITIONAL TROUGH
WEIGHT.
CONTACT GENERAL KINEMATICS’
ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
STROKE DECREASE 1. MATERIAL BUILD-UP. CLEAN TROUGH.
  2. TROUGH HITTING STATIONARY
EQUIPMENT.
CHECK CLEARANCE ON
THE GENERAL KINEMATICS ARRANGEMENT DRAWINGS.
  3. “V-F” COUNTERWEIGHT
WHEEL BAD or *(LOST or LOW PRESSURE).
REPLACE BOTH “V-F” WHEELS,
CHECK AIR/HYD LINE.

*MAXIMUM FEED RATE PRESSURE MAY VARY DEPENDING ON
DESIGN – REFER TO THE GENERAL ARRANGEMENT DRAWING/S.

IMPROPER MATERIAL PROCESSING. 1. ROCKER LEG FAILURE . REPLACE ROCKER LEG.
  2. ISOLATION SPRING
BREAKAGE.
REPLACE ISOLATION SPRING.
  3. MATERIAL BUILD-UP. CLEAN OUT.
  4. LOOSE BOLTS. TIGHTEN BOLTS TO PROPER
TORQUE.
MATERIAL NOT CONVEYING
or LOW CAPACITY
1. GATE CLOSED OPEN GATE.
  2. OBSTRUCTION IN TROUGH. REMOVE OBSTRUCTION.
  3. “V-F” WHEELS BAD. REPLACE BOTH WHEELS.
  4. *NO PRESSURE FOR ADJUSTABLE
FEEDER WITH 80 PSI MAX FEED RATE.
CHECK AIR SUPPLY AND AIR LINES.

DESIGN – REFER TO THE GENERAL KINEMATICS ARRANGEMENT DRAWING/S.

NOISE 1. LOOSE BOLTS. TIGHTEN BOLTS TO PROPER TORQUE.
  2. BROKEN or LOOSE
SPRING.
REPLACE BROKEN SPRING.
  3. BROKEN OR LOOSE
ROCKER LEG
REPLACE ROCKER LEG,
TIGHTEN BOLTS TO PROPER TORQUE.
  4. HITTING STATIONARY
SKIRT.
PROVIDE NECESSARY CLEARANCE.
  5. WELD BREAKAGE. CONTACT GENERAL KINEMATICS’ ENGINEERING
DEPARTMENT.
ROCKER LEG FAILURE 1. LOOSE BOLTS. TIGHTEN BOLTS TO PROPER TORQUE
VALUE PER THE TORQUE CHART IN YOUR MANUAL.
  2. BUSHING FAILURE. REPLACE RUBBER BUSHING.
  3. MATERIAL BUILD-UP. CLEAN UP.
SPRING FAILURE 1. LOOSE BOLTS. TIGHTEN BOLTS TO PROPER
TORQUE VALUE.
  2. FATIGUE OR BROKEN. REPLACE SPRING.
MOTOR MALFUNCTION 1. IMPROPER VOLTAGE. CHECK GENERAL ARRANGEMENT
DRAWING FOR PROPER VOLTAGE.
  2. DISCONNECT OR STARTER. RESET, CHECK OVERLOAD
HEATER SIZE.
  3. SINGLE PHASING. CHECK CABLE, WIRE LEAD,
& CABLE CONNECTION (MOTOR CONDUIT BOX IS PACKED WITH DUXSEAL
AND MUST BE REPACKED WITH SAME)..
