In Stock Components Reduce Customer Downtime

 by General Kinematics,

Challenge:
A foundry customer located in Alabama has had a General Kinematics vibratory machine in service for many decades. One of the motors on the machine that had been in operation for over 30 years finally failed late one afternoon, leaving that customer in a downtime situation.

Approach:
The customer did not have a replacement motor at their location. They contacted General Kinematics late in the day to see how quickly they could get a replacement motor for their now idled process line.

Solution:
With a large inventory of components and motors available, the motor they needed was quickly identified as in stock at General Kinematics and ready to ship. GK’s component parts specialist then worked with the GK shipping department and expedited shipping partners to arrange next day delivery from Illinois to Alabama for the start of the next business day.

Results:
At 8AM the following morning, the customer received the new motor for their machine. The quick turn around by GK prevented a possible extended shut down event. The customer was so happy that they sent a letter of appreciation to the sales specialist thanking him for his extra effort in supporting their process.
