Already near the starting gate, GIFA 2015 is launching off this month in Dusseldorf, Germany (June 16-20). GIFA is the most extensive, influential trade show for foundry technology in the world and welcomes close to 800 exhibitors from 45 countries.

All at one time: The event connects business leaders and innovators, provides a platform for live education, and displays innovative foundry technology from around the world.

GIFA 2015: General Kinematics Foundry Equipment

Amongst the General Kinematics’ team, a range of innovative, energy-efficient and reliable foundry equipment and vibratory conveyors will be on display.

Do you need to upgrade your current rotary drum? The LOCK-TITE  rotary drum liner is your solution. Does your foundry need technology that will handle hot and abrasive materials? Flat Stroke or Curved, our conveyors are able to handle the heat.

Cool Castings: SPIRA-COOL®

A vibratory conveyor, the SPIRA-COOL® can replace up to 400 feet of a traditional vibratory conveyors used for conveying and cooling casting. The SPIRA-COOL® features a patented air-chamber design that cools and conveys castings efficiently and quietly. Ultimately, the equipment conserves space and reduces the costs of foundation and maintenance.

Featured in the January 2015 Issue of Foundry, authors Claude Hutchens and Amy Donahue describe the development of the SPIRA-COOL® in The Challenge of Cooling Castings Without 400 Feet of Conveyors. In a single case study, the SPIRA-COOL® reduced the previous footprint requirements by a factor of eight (Whoa!).

Case Study

Without a layout redesign, the foundry needed to establish a new method of processing and cooling their castings. A top priority of the project was to reduce the environmental impact of their plant, which was being caused by the present equipment.

The SPIRA-COOL® enabled the plant’s heat transfer to become more efficient thus improving the overall energy footprint. How did it succeed? It’s simple: The new ventilation system was isolated to the work area, rather than being redirected across the entire plant.

Energy efficiency is just one benefit amidst a long list of the SPIRA-COOL® abilities. Check it out and learn more at GIFA 2015!
