GK Llambec Railcar Feeder

 by General Kinematics,

GK Llambec was tasked with designing a feeder that would extract rom gold ore from under the reef silo to fill 8 rail hoppers at a rate of 1000 TPH.

The project was completed within two months of receiving the green light from the ATS management team. GK Llambec designed, built, and installed a huge 2000-wide x 6000-long kinetic energy-saving feeder.

  • Ore tonnage increased from an average of 7, 500 t/m to 68 000 in the first month of operation, with the potential to increase to 120 000 t/m
  • Operational costs reduced by approximately R250, 000 per month (based on R7, 500 t/m).
  • The time it used to take to load the 8 Rail Hoppers has been reduced from 14 hours to 40 minutes.
  • Brute Force Equipment of the traditional type was not possible because of height and power restrictions. As well as the need to stop and start under load.
  • The Kinetic Feeder is run with 2 x 3,5 kW Vibratory Motors only.
